Lives and works in New York (USA)
Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro to a family of artists, PIXOTE moved to New York City in the early 90’s and was immersed in the Lower East Side music, skateboarding and graffiti scenes. With a style that strongly resembles the pixação style from his home country, PIXOTE presents NYC's landscape with a sea of script atop the city’s greatest heights.
PIXOTE has also created a parallel body of work with his fine art. His work is about diving into the essential elements of life and consciousness through a primitive-inspired language of his own; where spirituality and energy meet colors, shapes, movements, and figures in an abstract composition, this creates a symbolic ritual between the paint, and the canvas. His unique way of communicating with each canvas, like a tarot card, is reflecting the present moment and allowing that process to guide his path.
PIXOTE has shown his work during Art Basel Miami, in various galleries throughout New York City and Brazil. In addition to his fine art and graffiti, PIXOTE has collaborated with numerous lifestyle brands, musicians, and interior designers to cultivate a creative design for custom imagery, typography, and illustration.
He has also been featured in highly regarded publications including VICE, Frank 151, and Mass Appeal, recognizing his widespread following and the up rise of his brand and style. He has been photographed and published in the book, SURFACE, by the international photographer, Soren Solkær, displaying many of the world's most infamous and praised street artists and graffiti writers.
